What is Digifol (Digital Film)?
A digital – also known as smart – film is a purpose-built glass or plexiglass surface-mounted layer that provides multifunctional benefits to the partitioning used. Between the layers of the super-thin, flexible film, which consists of seven layers, is a special liquid crystal that changes its transparency from milky white to water clear when exposed to an electric current. The big advantage of using smart-film is that you don’t need to replace windows or glazed areas to use it, as it can be applied to any glass surface in the living room, bathroom, office or any other glass surface afterwards. It can be cut to any size and shape. Once applied, the smart-film hardly changes the overall appearance of the glass surface and the transparency of the window.
How does it work?
The film is actually a special liquid crystal sheet, covered on both sides by a special film. When the film is in its de-energised state, the liquid crystal molecules in the polymer are disordered, so light is unable to pass through the film, which is when it appears milky white or opalescent. Under tension, the electric field causes the liquid crystal molecules to align so that light can pass through the film, which is when it appears transparent.

Energy saving: thanks to the PEDOT material, you can save up to 40% of the energy from the irradiated heat, absorbing 99% of UV rays and 90% of infrared rays.
